draft: General Jam/NINJAM dos&donts
leave air and listen
let the jam breathe, avoid endless Pad-sounds, permanent arpeggios and similar - instead give the thing room to breathe, make breaks, let the echo unfold, give some space to other participants, be nice&easy on the listeners ears
pre-listen silently
subtract yourself from the jam whenever you are browsing your patch-library looking for the next sound to play and inspire you; use headphones and turn down the volume to the jam until you found what you‘re looking for, then gently re-join the jam
suggest, dont force
use the established communication means to suggest a new scale, rhythm, measure etc. You can use the text-chat or the video-chat (if used in the session) to suggest a change. On the NINJAM server use the text-chat to vote for a change - BPM and BPI can be voted for by entering ‚!vote bpm xxx‘ or ‚!vote bpi xx‘ respectively (without the quotes, x being a number) into the text chat window - if 50% or more of the participants follow this vote by entering the same text into the text-chat the server automatically changes to the entered values, otherwise after 60 seconds the vote is invalidated.
Please do not force anything onto the jam-participants, especially not by disrutping the session
have fun, dont be shy
happy accidents often are conceived as errors - so: let them happen; be part of the session and have fun, do not fear to make mistakes, and please do not criticize others when they make mistakes, rather try to build on their contribution and transfrom them into something great
